The honest answer to "why not just…?"
Four questions every operator weighs before switching. Here's where each alternative stops short — and where we don't.
Why not build an internal team?
To match what LDGERS delivers you would hire a financial controller, an accountant and an AP clerk, then buy and integrate the software on top. That is several salaries and months of setup before the first clean report, with the risk that one resignation stalls everything. If your controller leaves mid-way through opening a venue, an in-house team leaves you exposed; with us the function never has a gap. You get the whole department, staffed and covered, platform included, live in weeks, for one fee per outlet.
Why not just use an accountant?
An accountant keeps the records and files the returns. Essential, and backward-looking. It will not count last night's takings across ten outlets, match them to the POS and the bank by morning, stop an off-budget order before it is placed, or hand you a consolidated group P&L mid-month. When a landlord or lender asks for numbers, "ask the accountant next month" is not an answer. Keep an advisor for the strategic calls; let us run the daily function underneath them.
Why isn't your accounting software enough?
Your ledger, whether Xero, QuickBooks or Sage, records the business; it does not operate it. It will not reconcile a shift, route a supplier invoice through your approval hierarchy, or tell a GM their spend-per-head by lunchtime. We run on all of them and wrap them with daily reconciliation, spend control, hospitality dashboards and live consolidation, with a finance team doing the work on top. The software you already pay for finally gets used properly.
Why not a generic ERP?
An ERP asks you to bend your business to fit it: heavy budgets, a rollout measured in quarters, and consultants every time something changes. And it still will not natively speak to Simphony, SevenRooms or your delivery platforms. A group mid-expansion cannot wait two quarters to see numbers. LDGERS is built for hospitality, costs a fraction, ships in weeks, and connects to the stack you already run out of the box.
The same job, three levels of cover.
Most operators land on one of these. The third is the reason LDGERS exists.
Do it yourself
Hire a finance team and buy the software. Full control, several salaries, months to stand up, and exposure to every resignation and holiday.
An accountant or software alone
Records kept and returns filed, monthly at best. Essential, but it will not reconcile shifts, control spend or consolidate a group.
LDGERS
A dedicated team runs the daily function on our platform, connected to your stack, always staffed, consolidated live. One fee per outlet.
The clearest answer is a walkthrough.
Fifteen minutes on your outlets and numbers, and the difference is obvious.
